Anganwadi Workers are responsible for early childhood education, nutrition, child care, periodic health monitoring and health care of kids upto the age of 6 years. Also they are responsible for providing Supplementary nutrition, Nutrition and health education, Immunization, Health checkups for the pregnant as well as lactating mothers (PLM).
Assist Anganwadi Worker in smooth discharge of her duties. Cook and serve food to the beneficiaries, Clean the Premises and fetch water, help with educational activities. Ensure cleanliness in childeren. Bring childern from village community to the Anganwadi. In absense of Anganwadi Worker, carry out her functions.
Anganwadi supervisor provides continuous on-the-job guidance to Anganawadi workers (AWWs).
Each supervisor looks after 10 Anganawadis and each Anganawadi covers a population of approximately 1000.
On her visit to Anganawadi, the supervisor performs certain important tasks like:
i) Checks the list of beneficiaries from the low economic strata, who are severely malnourished,
ii) Guides Anganawadi workers (AWWs) in the assessment of correct ages of children, correct method of weighing the children, and plotting their weights on growth charts,
iii) Demonstrates to the AWWs the effective methods of providing health and nutrition education to mothers, and
iv) Maintains the statistics of the Anganawadis.
(1) Her work includes health and nutrition education on various aspects of the health of a mother and child.
Age Limit : Between 18-45 years (varies by state).
Age Relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, PwD : SC/ST = 5 Years, OBC = 3 Years, PwD = 10 Years
Educational Qualifications : Minimum 10th or 12th Pass (Higher qualifications may be preferred) (may vary by state).

Government of India aided Training Programs are conducted for potential development of all personnel of Anganwadi,
for better implementation of services and to give proper information and introduction of ICDS and its programs.
Training for Selected Candidates includes Pre-service training programs on Child care, health services, nutrition, and education. Orientation Training, Work Training and Refresher Training is provided to the Anganwadi Staff at Anganwadi Training Centre.
